Women's tennis blanked by Nichols, 7-0

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's tennis team opened its 2018 season with a 7-0 loss to Nichols College on Friday.

The Hawks fall to 0-1 on the year while Nichols, an NCAA Division III Tournament team one season ago, moves to 1-0 with the victory.

Junior Kaitlin Hughes (Rockland, Mass.) and senior Kayla Hodas (Peabody, Mass.) picked up first set victories at No. 2 and No. 6 singles, respectively, but their Nichols counterparts were able to complete the sweep with back-to-back set wins.

Saint Anselm opens Northeast-10 Conference play on Tuesday, Sept. 4 as it travels to Saint Michael's College for a 3:30 p.m. showdown in the Green Mountain State.
