Women's soccer and St. Michael's play to 0-0 tie

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's soccer team outshot Saint Michael's College 28-10, including 11-3 in shots on goal, but was forced to settle for a 0-0 tie in Northeast-10 Conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Melucci Field.

Saint Anselm (4-6-1, 2-6-1 NE10) posted double-digit shots in each half of regulation and held a 6-3 edge in shots in the extra sessions, but Megan LeCours made 11 saves as Saint Michael's (3-6-2, 2-6-1 NE10) held the Hawks off the board. The tie extended the Hawks' unbeaten run in the series to 10 games (7-0-3) dating back to Sept. 29, 2010.

Elise Bouchard had just three saves to make for Saint Anselm and earned her second shutout of the season with 110:00 minutes of scoreless time in goal. The junior is now 4-4-1 on the season.

Alexis Elowitch had a team-high seven shots for the Hawks, while Corey Murray added five. In total, 11 Saint Anselm players registered shots in the game and nine had at least one shot on goal.

LeCours had three saves in the opening half for Saint Michael's, with two coming in the final 15 minutes of the half to deny Kiley Larocque and Jessica Kaufman. The Hawks held a 10-4 advantage in shots in the opening half.

Six of LeCours' 11 saves came in the second half of regulation as Saint Anselm tried to break the deadlock. Bouchard produced a save on Brett Matzke with a little over four minutes left in regulation to help keep the game scoreless. Murray and Nicole Scarfo accounted for the lone shots on goal in the overtime sessions.

Saint Anselm travels to the College of Saint Rose for a 2 p.m. start on Saturday, Oct. 14.
