SAUGUS, Mass. - Goaltender Amy Zappen (Huntington Beach, Calif.) was named to the 2011-12 New England Division II & Division II Women's Hockey All-Star team following a vote of the New England Hockey Writers panel.

CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Sophomore goaltender Nick Dries (Commerce Township, Mich.) and senior forwards Marissa Serafino (Rutland, Vt.) and Aly Zappen (Huntington Beach, Calif.) of the Saint Anselm College ice hockey teams earned placement on the 2011-12 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference East All-Academic Teams for their respective sports, ECAC Commissioner Rudy Keeling announced late Friday afternoon.

Women’s Ice Hockey Captures Fourth ECAC Women’s Open Championship
MANCHESTER, N.H. – Powered by a hat trick from forward Aly Zappen (Huntington Beach, Calif.), the No. 2-ranked Saint Anselm College women’s ice hockey team won the fourth ECAC Women’s Open Championship in program history, posting a 7-3 victory over the No. 1-ranked Crusaders of the College of the Holy Cross Sunday afternoon at Thomas F. Sullivan Arena.

Four Different Scorers Lift Women’s Ice Hockey Over Pioneers
MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women’s ice hockey team fired a season-high 56 shots on net en route to a 4-1 victory over the Pioneers of Sacred Heart University in the opening round of the ECAC Women’s Open Tournament Saturday afternoon at the Thomas F. Sullivan Arena. With the victory, the Hawks improve to 19-6-1 overall on the season and move on to the ECAC Open Championship game for the third-straight season. Sacred Heart dropped their 17th contest of the season to fall to 10-17-1 overall on the year.

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Goaltender Amy Zappen (Huntington Beach, Calif.) posted her second-straight shutout during Pink In The Rink weekend to lift the Saint Anselm College women’s ice hockey program to a 4-0 victory over the Seahawks of Salve Regina University Saturday afternoon at Thomas F. Sullivan Arena. With the victory, the Hawks improve to 15-6-0 overall on the season and to 10-5-0 within the ECAC Women’s East. The Seahawks fall to 9-8-4 overall on the year and to 5-6-3 within conference play.

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Forward Rosemarie Giarrusso (Royal Palm Beach, Fla.) scored two goals and an assist en route to a 6-0 blanking of the Crusaders of the College of the Holy Cross Friday evening at Thomas F. Sullivan Arena. With the victory, the Hawks improve to 14-6-0 overall on the season and to 9-5-0 within the ECAC Women’s East. The Crusaders drop only their second contest of the season, falling to 15-2-2 overall and to 11-2-0 within the conference.
