MANCHESTER, N.H. - Coach Paul Finn has accepted an opportunity to transition away from his head coaching position and into an advisory role for athletics and will assist Director of Athletics Daron Montgomery and the athletics administration moving forward. Finn served for the past 15 seasons as the head men's and women's cross country coach.
"We are grateful to Paul for his service and dedication to our cross country programs," said Montgomery. "Paul loves the College and he loves Hawks athletics. This new role will be of benefit for our athletic department."
Since 2009, Finn's teams have had successes both on the course and in the classroom as he has had 239 Dean's List students and 265 Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll recipients. In Northeast-10 competition, the men's team has posted five top-10 finishes at the NE10 Championships, while the women's team finished in the top-10 eight separate times.
"During the recent past, our new athletics leadership team has brought forward resources and energy that allowed us to further develop our current athletes and recruit some very talented student-athletes," said Finn. "This will be an exciting year for both teams."
"The Athletic Department is at a growth point, and I am supportive of its direction forward," added Finn. "I am glad to consult and advise as needed and will help the Hawks however I can. I look forward to visiting with alumni when they visit campus and also cheering on our student-athletes."
Finn will work with Montgomery on several important initiatives with a focus on strengthening athletics competitiveness, sport sponsorship and other potential projects. Finn has also accepted an invitation to join the Athletic Director Advisory Group, which was formed in May 2016.
"Paul has graciously offered to assist our next head coach in the coming weeks, and I am confident he will help in any way possible to assure a seamless leadership transition," added Montgomery.
