BEVERLY, Mass. – Daniel Kmetz and Benji Page were victorious at No. 3 doubles for the Saint Anselm College men's tennis team as the Hawks fell 8-1 at Endicott College to open their fall match schedule on Tuesday afternoon at South Campus Courts.
Kmetz and Page teamed up for an 8-3 victory over Christos Papadopoulos and Anthony Rinaldi at the third doubles spot for Saint Anselm (0-1). Endicott (1-0) claimed narrow victories at the other two doubles spots and swept the six singles matches on its way to the win.
The win from Kmetz and Page put the Hawks on top 1-0, but the pairs of Chris Kirkpatrick and Justin Toler and Nicholas Eherts and Daniel Rinkert earned wins for the Gulls to give the hosts the advantage going into singles. Kirkpatrick and Toler edged Eric Howes and Kyle Harris in a tiebreaker 9-8 (7-4) at the top spot, while Eherts and Rinkert picked up an 8-6 win over Brian Kavanagh and Alex Pearson at second doubles.
