EASTON, Mass. – The top of the lineup carried host Stonehill College to a 6-3 victory over the Saint Anselm College men's tennis team in a Northeast-10 Conference match on Saturday afternoon at Charles Watt Tennis Courts.
Stonehill (6-6, 4-2 NE10) picked up victories at the top-two doubles spots and top-four singles positions to record the win. Saint Anselm (4-13, 1-7 NE10) got a doubles point from Brian Kavanagh and Brian Madden and singles victories from Kyle Harris and Benji Page.
The pairs of Thomas Bellio and Nikolay Lisichenok and Manu Ravichandrakumar and Tom Buckley at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles gave the Skyhawks the advantage heading into singles play. Kavanagh and Madden won for the fourth time in the last five NE10 matches courtesy of an 8-5 victory over Dimitri Vlassov and Jeffrey Gagnon at No. 3 doubles for Saint Anselm's point.
In singles, Harris recorded his fifth consecutive victory, all in conference play, at the fifth spot by defeating Vlassov 7-6 (7-5), 6-1, while Page outlasted Aaron Diamond 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 at No. 6 singles for the Hawks.
Bellio, Lisichenok, Ravichandrakumar and Buckley earned their second match wins of the day at the top of the lineup to help Stonehill finish off the win. The match between Ravichandrakumar and Daniel Kmetz at No. 3 singles went the distance, with Ravichandrakumar rallying from a set down for a 3-6, 6-2, 10-8 victory.
Saint Anselm closes out its NE10 slate by hosting Merrimack on Saturday, April 15 in a noon start.
